Clothes to Good, one of South Africa’s most impactful social enterprises, is expanding to Cape Town — and Max & Me is proud to be the regional sourcing partner. As you may know, Clothes to Good upcycles textiles to support inclusive micro-businesses and empower families of children with disabilities.

Now, schools in the Western Cape have a chance to be part of something that’s educational, emotional, and environmental — all while making a real impact.

What’s the Eco Challenge?

The Max & Me Eco Challenge invites schools to take part in simple, meaningful activities that help:

  • Teach children about emotional regulation

  • Promote inclusivity and kindness

  • Encourage recycling and environmental awareness

  • Link learning to real-world action

Our first outreach runs from Youth Day to Mandela Day, but schools can choose their own dates or make it part of ongoing Life Orientation or school community initiatives.

How It Works: Choose Your Level of Involvement

Whether your school wants to do one small act or build a long-term programme, every bit counts. Activities include:

1. Run a Clothing Drive

Collect gently used clothing, textiles or shoes. We’ll help link your school to Clothes to Good’s logistics network. Proceeds support micro-businesses and job creation.

2. Start a Paws & Peace Corner

Create a calming, child-led emotional regulation space using recycled or donated items. Max the Bulldog is the visual anchor and companion.

3. Plant with Purpose

Grow spekboom or other hardy plants in upcycled pots. Talk about resilience, climate care and emotional growth in parallel.

Why It’s Worth It

This challenge aligns with national education goals around:

  • SEL (Social and Emotional Learning)

  • Environmental responsibility

  • Inclusive participation

  • Community-building

It’s also adaptable across Foundation Phase to FET, and makes for great integration into Life Skills, Art, and even Business Studies through social entrepreneurship modules.

How to Get Involved

Whether you're a principal, Life Orientation teacher, or part of a school SGB or community group, we’d love to support you.

🟠 Max & Me will help you get started — with posters, story resources, or calm-down tools.🟢 Clothes to Good will handle logistics of the donation and upcycling process.
